My daily updated pages, listing Edgebrook and Sauganash homes for sale, are among the most popular here at 60646 Blog. With a combined total of 2,408 unique page views since January 1, 2008, these two pages on my blog seem to attract the most interest among readers, which led me to think about ways I can make these pages better and more convenient for you.
I decided to take some of my own advice that I usually provide to sellers, which is: unclutter. Consequently, I separated listings by property type, so that those folks who are interested in searching for single family homes only, won’t have to bother sifting through condo listings, and those of you who want to look at condos or townhouses only, won’t have to run through all 2-4 Flat listings first, before you get to the proverbial meat’n'potatoes. Attempting to keep up with fashionable Web 2.0 styling, I “ajaxified” the whole thing, meaning: All you have to do is to click on the property type(s) you’re interested in looking at, and what you came here to look for, will be magically revealed to you. Click again, and the window will disappear as quickly as it opened. A ↓↑ sign is your guide. It’s actually quite a bit of fun to play with. Go ahead, check it out. You won’t be breaking anything. I would like to advise you though that in order for this to work in your browser, you need to have Javascript enabled.

The second improvement I’ve made to my Edgebrook and Sauganash homes for sale pages is the inclusion of another window that shows which listings are new on the market, in the ongoing week, which will always start on Sundays. I define as “new on the market” any property that has not been listed in the MLS for sale (or for lease) within the past three months. In other words, if a listing expired/was cancelled two and a half months ago or perhaps even last week, and is being re-listed today in the MLS, I do not consider this to be a “new on the market” listing. Much like the rules that the Multiple Listing Service of Northern Illinois follows for the calculation of cumulative market time, I feel that my rule for displaying a listing as “new on the market” offers the same type of transparency, in the interest of consumers.

Next week, I will try to implement an additional improvement idea which is to equip these two pages each with their own RSS feeds. The benefit to you would be that by subscribing to these feeds in your favorite feed reader, you will automatically be informed about new listings that come on the market, without having to check back on 60646 Blog intermittently to see what’s new in terms of Edgebrook and Sauganash listings (not that I don’t want you to visit).

As you can see, this is some serious work in progress, and your input and feedback with regard to enhancements to this system will be much appreciated, and if technically possible for me, implemented.
