As Seen In North Edgebrook: Stop Work Order From The Department Of Buildings

Stop Work Order

Don’t let this happen to you. In this particular case, the owner and/or developer of this property apparently was working contrary to approved plans/permits, and poured a concrete foundation with no plans or permits. The result: A “Stop Work Order” from the Chicago Dept. of Buildings. A SWO is a nasty thing to have plastered all over your construction site fencing. It’s costly to reverse, but more importantly, it’s very time consuming to remedy, which can put a serious dent in your project’s timeline. Be sure to work with an architect and/or general contractor that know the ins-and-outs of dealing with the Building Department properly, prior to hiring them.
